A final say...

As we were supposed to write about a new technology in this class, I wrote many posts about e-books especially kindle-the new e-reader device which was a great revolution. However, now I would like a kind of conclusion about this class and the things I learnt from it. At the beginning, I felt that this class will be boring, and the things we will do on our blog is unimportant, but later I discovered how significant it is. I didn’t know much about blogs, even I didn’t think of opening a blog in my life. In fact, I’m not the kind of interested in new technologies or writing about them, because everyday we have something new. But really I’ve learnt a lot from this course, and my English had improved, I’ve learnt things I would never imagine myself doing. I just wanted to write this because as we know in the blog we can write and express freely, therefore I wanted to say that the “MEDIA AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES CLASS” was beneficial and educative for me and I think for all too. But I can’t deny that searching for information was a little hard as we had to make several posts a week.

THE FIRST FACEBOOK BAR IN THE WORLD ONLY IN LEBANON :)

YES its true,the first facebook bar in the world is now open in the capital of Lebanon,Beirut and its name is LITTLE LEBANON ! this is the first bar in the world carrying this name. the owner of the bar contacted facebook management in U.S and took its acceptance to open 5 months ago and got it. Facebook managment will send some of its representatives to check on the bar especially that its the first bar in th world carrying this name.

The bar is made up of 2 floors and is able to welcome 80 people inside. the decorations are made using Facebook colors,which are white and blue. The funny thing is that the drinks available in the bar all have facebook names like: "super poke", "facebook sky", "facebook dark", and many others. the owners of this bar also used a wide WALL space in the 2nd floor so that customers can write on it their comments,opinions or even messages, just like how it is done on the real Facebook profile.

LITTLE LEBANON has its own group on the Facebook website where people can make plans to meet in the bar and also contains information about the bar and pictures. Dont you ever worry taking your camers with you to Facebook Bar because the workers there are always carrying theirs cameras around,taking pictures and uploading them for you on the group's profile :).

Hope to see u there :D!!!

5,000 additional titles on kindle...

Friday, Amazon, through her Chief Executive "Jeff Bezos"announced new news about its device-the kindle in the convention that took place in Los angelos. the news was that publisher "Simon and Schuster" will make 5000 more books available on kindle, boosting the number of titles users can download and read to 125,000. this shows that amazon is really working on its evice wanting it not to be affected by the drop in pricee after a huge demand on it.

Also, Bezos showed that:

"Kindle books account for 6 percent of book units that have both Kindle and physical versions;
Amazon’s goal is to put every book into an eBook".
Simon & Schuster picked its titles based on popular sales of physical books over the last 12 months on Amazon. Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed."

Despite the drop in price of kindle, i think it is still wanted from many people especially after its additional titles, amking the readers have a variety of news and stoires to read. Goodluck kindle..

Well for all those intrested in the presidential campaign i have got good news for you,you can now to that through Facebook! This application is launched by ABC news who have joined Facebook and have partnered to launch an online political initiative that will combine the latest news from the campaign trail with a variety of discussion and interactive forums. This new application will allow the 56 million Facebook users to learn about and debate the issues in the upcoming election. "We thought it would be a great opportunity for us to make available to the people already having the ongoing discussion and debate on Facebook the full range of ABC News political reporting," said David Westin, president of ABC News.

ABC News' political reporting will similarly be influenced by Facebook users. Discussions and reactions by Facebook members will play into how ABC News approaches its coverage of campaign events, Westin added. ABC news reporters will be posting minute by minute stories,blogs, and photographs to keep facebook users up to date with the latest news on the campaign. Facebook users will also be able to share their opinion on the campaigh in a section called Debate Group,where any facebook member can share his opinion and thoughts."The goal is to extend the debate from being a one-hour session that happens on television to a dialogue that can take place before, after and now during the debate between voters," said Dan Rose, Facebook's vice president of business development. "We're all about providing technology platforms to enable and facilitate information flow and dialogue."

Official ABC News poll results will also be accessible through the application.
